Advice to 2022 couples getting married from past couples

3/04/2022

  1. Sit back and watch your wedding from a private place to recharge. I am putting this first because we did this for our wedding and loved it. It was literally 5-10 min long but we were all by ourselves in quiet and were able to reflect on just getting married. When I asked other couples on Instagram for tips they would tell other couples getting married this was one that came up as well.
  2. Make sure you eat. I second this, you should be eating throughout the day and well as keeping hydrated. I honestly think hydrated is almost more important. If you do not the next day your body will thank you and you will be able to enjoy your honeymoon even more.
  3. Take time to talk to your guests. This one as a photographer is hard for me to find time for my couples to do. If you have 100-200 people at your wedding it truly is so hard to do this during dinner if you also want to eat and do toasts etc. However, no matter what if this is what you want plan time to eat dinner first and head to the tables right after that to welcome everyone.
  4. Reminder to the officiant to move after he/she announces first kiss. I will say this one almost never happens and totally should so that you guys have a picture of just you at the alter kissing. Letting your officiant know before the wedding is key for this and they are usually super sweet about asking the photo team where to stand if asked before hand.
  5. Have officiant announce family photos right after wedding so that you do not loose your family to cocktail hour too fast. I can just say from experience they go by a lot faster if they are announced.
  6. Gift your bridal party gifts they can use on the day of the wedding- Jewelry, eyeshadow pallet, lipglosses, bow ties or dart guns (you could have a little dart gun fun before the wedding).
  7. Have a drawn out plan and things in place for your team to set up decor. If you are not using a planner and are having your bridal party do it this is key to ensure you do not have to go out and help them out.
