Couples Location Guide

My couples location guide was created to help you find a place that feels deeply personal—a setting that reflects your unique story. Whether it’s where you first fell in love, a favorite weekend getaway, or simply a space that feels like “home” when you are together, I want your location to add meaning to your photos. This is not just about beautiful backdrops—it is about choosing a place that captures the essence of you two. Let’s find the spot that makes your story shine.

  1. Marin Headlands- This location is truly breathtaking. It’s about a 15–20 minute hike to the top, but the views along the way—and especially at the summit—make it so worth it. Just a heads up: the weather here can be unpredictable. Fog can roll in at any time, the winds are usually strong, and there’s a chance the Golden Gate Bridge might not be visible. Even on a foggy or overcast day, though, the atmosphere is still beautiful—just something to keep in mind when choosing this spot.

2. Sea Ranch Lodge: This is truly one of my favorite locations in all of California. From the dramatic cliffs and serene beaches to the beautiful architecture of Sea Ranch Lodge, it offers a breathtaking and unique backdrop for your session.

There is a fee to shoot here, but it’s well worth it for the setting and experience. I’m more than happy to reach out to Sea Ranch Lodge on your behalf to confirm current pricing and availability.

3. Wineries- Living in wine country means we’re surrounded by some truly breathtaking wineries—each with its own charm and beauty. Many wineries do require a location fee or have specific time restrictions for photo sessions, so it’s always good to check ahead.

I typically schedule sessions around sunset to take advantage of the most flattering light. That said, for proposals, I’m happy to work with any time of day to make sure your vision comes to life.

If you have a winery in mind, I’m more than happy to call and gather all the details for you. A few of my favorites to reach out to are:

  • Stony Hill Winery
  • Coppola Winery
  • Castello di Amorosa
  • Kendall-Jackson Winery

Let me know what speaks to you, and I’ll take care of the rest!

4. Mt. Tam. is beautiful. I love it in Spring so much, as well as early Summer when it is still green! It does require a permit to shoot here so that fee will be added to the invoice, anytime a permit is required, I will reach out, sign for it and and add it to the invoice.

5. Mendocino, CA- This spot is near and dear to my heart. Mendocino/Fort Bragg is where my mom grew up, so I know it well. There are beautiful beaches redwoods and cliffs here to choose from.

6. S.F. City- Pick a couple spots around the city that reflects who you are as a couple and we can combine 1-3 close in proximity locations.

7. S.F. City Hall- This location is absolutely stunning, especially in the morning or early afternoon when the natural light upstairs is at its best. The staircase is a dream and makes for some truly beautiful shots!

It can get a bit busy, but I always build in extra time during the session so we can wait for the perfect spots to clear.

Please note: this location requires a photography permit. I’ll reach out to check the current fee and take care of that detail for you.

8. Private Location: If you have access to a private location—like your grandparents’ property or a special place you both love—I’d be more than happy to do your session there. I just ask to see a few photos of the location beforehand so I can plan where we’ll start the shoot.

For example, the session below took place at my couple’s own home and property. It was absolutely stunning and the perfect way to tell their story right where they live.

9. Bodega Bay: This is a beautiful location for either the cliffs or the beach. I prefer the cliffs with the beautiful views of the ocean they provide. Take note that this location, like all coastal locations, can be a bit windy, cold & can have fog rolling in.

10. The Redwoods: I love the redwoods so much. I love that we have redwoods all around us here and how majestic they are. This location can be dark, so I aim to shoot this location a couple hours before sunset.
