As many of you know my husband and I live in Coffey Park. We rent out my parents home (my childhood home). Our house came right up to the fire line and had substantial smoke damage and had to replace insulation, roof, flooring, fences, and re-paint before we could move back in. Therefore, the last three months we bounced around from friends and families homes. We are so very thankful for the four families that took us in during that time we could not be more grateful for having a warm home to come home to during those three months of processing and grief in this community. Due to the fire Samaritans purse had to get rid of stuff in our house and they helped move us out. This meant taking everything out of the house and putting it in storage. A week ago when we were moving back in we had to wash every single thing that came back into the house. So let me tell you this challenge was actually fun for this organization and clean loving girl. Every book, shelf, clothing item etc. has been washed, cleaned and organized. Plus we got rids of tons of things so that we could fully go into this year with a more minimalistic set of mind. On a happier note, we decided that since the fires made our neighborhood one very sad one that we wanted to make the best of it and make our home truly our favorite place to be. We did not plan on buying furniture for another year but decided it was time to finally make this our home after two years of living here with my parents borrowed furniture. So here is where I get to tell you about how I came to design this home. My husband and I took our first trip to Joshua Tree a little over two years ago. We stayed in an amazing air b n b and spent that week praying, worshipping and finding peace. Something about the desert and that trip gave me life. You see it was during that trip I found out I could not have kids and had to get a hysterectomy. So my husband and I went to the desert to get away and find peace which is exactly what we did find. Side note I have a cactus in my logo because it reminds me that God is always there for me and will always give me peace. I hope you love our house designed to resemble my favorite Joshua Tree homes.

One helpful tip is to wait for sales. I bought all of these items over the course of three months and for the most part waiting for sales. Cost Plus items were all bought last week for half off the original price and all Article items were purchased right after Christmas on their sale weekend. West Elm, Micheals, and Urban Outfitters also had a great sale after Christmas that I caught. Also, this week Cost Plus still has amazing sales if you are in need of any cute household pieces. All this to be said is that it paid off to be patient and wait for sales.
Love how you decorated the house????????
